In many countries, governments focus mainly on boosting the economy, putting other issues in second place. The main benefit of focusing only on economic growth can improves people’s lives, because economic growth can provide a good condition for a life, however, the drawbacks of economic growth is that governments could ignore issue such as, ecologic, people health, pollution, which is happening in the country.
One clear advantage of boosting the economy is that people’s living conditions can significantly improve. It means that country will have significant changes such as, more companies will open, people life style will change. As a result, the number of unemployed people declined, homelessness becomes less common, and fewer citizens live in poverty. For example, some countries in Asia such as, Singapore experienced a rapid rise in economic development since prime minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew introduced strict anti-corruption laws.
However, focusing only on economic growth can also create several serious problems for the country. When the government pays attention mainly to the economy, other important areas such as ecology, people’s health, and pollution may be ignored. As a result, the environment can become damaged, the level of air and water pollution may rise, and citizens’ health can get worse over time. For example, in many developing countries, rapid economic growth has led to more factories and cars, which has increased pollution and caused various health issues among the population.
In conclusion, although focusing on economic growth can improve living standards, it also brings several disadvantages, especially when other important areas such as the environment and public health are not addressed.
