Over several decades, due to the rapid emergence of fast food chains, traditional cuisines are gradually ignored. While some people would prefer fast food, there are others arguing that traditional products are a better choice. From my perspective, I agree with the latter point of view.
On the one hand, those who argue that fast food is a better option base their ideas on the following arguments. First of all, while people previously have to spend hours making their own meals which is time consuming, it is now viable to get a fresh, delicious dish in just 5 to 10 minutes thanks to the advent of convenience restaurants. Hence, this type of service is utterly crucial for those who have a fast-paced lifestyle who require a meal with enough nutritions, energy to work for a long period of time. Furthermore, customers would prefer fast food to homecook food because of its accessibility. Not only do they possess a diverse menu, fast food chains are ubiquitous and affordable even for low-income people. It would take at least around 20 dollars to make a nutritious and square meal whereas KFC or McDonald can provide a much cheaper and even more appetizing dish.
On the other hand, there are more compelling reasons why I firmly believe buyers should focus more on consuming traditional products. Conspicuously, many traditional diets are naturally nutritious and require to be made from fresh and clean ingredients; hence, cultural food followers may adopt a healthier and more balanced diet. Japanese people, for instance, have the highest average life expectancy in the world since their diet is rich in fish and vegetables. Additionally, following traditional products is an ideal way to preserve our regional cultures and traditions. Food tells a story about the history, values of a community, helping to preserve cultural identity. By making traditional products, later generations can pass down important lessons about cultures and history to their offsprings in a much more understandable and attractive way.
In conclusion, notwithstanding that foreign fast food is cheap and time-saving, I think that we should not overlook the integral roles of traditional products such as their safeness and cleanliness or their importance in remaining national identity.
