Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 6+: In many countries, young people are leaving their homes in the countryside to live in large cities. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, leaving rural areas to move to urban areas has become a prevalent choice of many young individuals. while this phenomenon can bring benefits to people, I believe that the phenomenon also has detrimental impact on both individual and society, which can dominate the advantages.

On the one hand, there are some reasons why people at the young age tend to live in the large cities instead of countrysides, one of which is that individuals can acquire more opportunities. To be more specific, as plenty of huge companies are situated at central city, these areas offer a wide range of employment opportunities for peopl who are seeking for jobs. Moreover, prestigous and advanced schools in the cities attract young individuals by providing chances to enhance themselves academically. Also people believe that the high quality of equipments with better doctors can treat them well in case of diseases, and the modern accommodation can satisfy their living demands. This trend will lead to the utilization of human resources; nonetheless, it can be harmful to the environment and society.

On the other hand, there are a wide range of demerits of leaving homes in the rural home to settle in big cities. The main one is that the environment can be harmed considerably by the overpopulation of the cities. As more and more individuals live in cities, there will be more serious traffic jams and lead to the emission of toxic fumes from vehicle. As a result, the air is being contaminated drastically, making people struggle to breathe smoothly and even causing lung issues. Furthermore, with a view to satisfying people’ demands, factories and industrial companies have to work harder. By that, it also increases the sewage dumped into the river or beaches, making the water polluted and affecting to people’ lives and health.

In conclusion, leaving rural home to live in urban areas offer young individuals more job opportunities, better healthcare, and academic improvements, I believe that there are disadvantages linked to this trend as the overpopulation of the cities leads to numerous environmental issues which are harmful to individuals.
