Across the world, the number of people who are not receiving education is quiet high. This essay will explore different reasons for this prediciment, as well as recommend possible solutions.
One cause of high illiteracy percentage worldwide, is that education can be difficult to obtain. Many countries suffer from economical hardships, rendering it impossible to provide education to all citizens. This especially effects people from rural areas, as governments often tend to priorities large cities when building schools, universities, and educational centers. For example, in 2024 a young girl from Sudan had to travel more than 1500 miles from her village to attend an exam in the nearest city. Another cause for this issue, is the high cost of seeking knowledge. Students often pay considerable amount of money in order to enroll in educational facilites such as, schools and universities. These funds are directed towards obtaining materials, covering staff payments, and preserving buildings. A recent study found that students nowadays, pay 10 times more in education, than what students paid in 2012.
To decrease the rate of illiteracy, it is my recommindation that education is made more accessible to the public. By building more primary education facilites we can ensure that more people have acess to education. For instance, “education without borders” is an organization that focuses on providing education to people around the globe by building schools in rural areas. Additionally, i propose that governments should prioritize education in their anual expenditure plan, in order to make it affordiable to the general population.
In conclusion, illiteracy rates are high all over the world. This is because people education can be hard to obtain, in addition to its high cost. My suggestion is that learning should be more accessible, as well as, affordable.
