This is the world of internet. One should always be ready to expect the unexpected. Few workplaces are also following same rule and looking for creative employees over the techies. People are looking in to new innovations and creativity. Creativity brings more business, however, for seamless operations, company needs technical experts as well. I will try to discuss ideas about why only creativity cannot make things easier. It might give negative impacts.
To begin with, creativity and imaginations bring business which is the primary objective for any company. However, any companies will not always perform well on their balance sheet or their operations. There are often breakdowns at multiple level for example, at the level of supply chain, or management or human resources. To tackle up these hurdles, company needs experts to sort this out at earliest. No company wants to hold their operations for a longer period or let their customer face problems on their platforms.
Adding more, creativity and imagination cannot solve the technical problems. For instance, if there is failed software or broken hardware, company needs technical expert to fix the problem. If all the companies start going after imagination and creativity only, it might end with defaming the importance of higher education or even basic education. Society needs more responsible citizens and literacy is the primary key for that. I agree creativity may give early fame and money, but it will not last forever. People needs something new regularly and same set of people may not be able to satisfy that demand for longer period of time. Ultimately companies will lay off them and they will be pushed in the world of uncertainty.
To conclude the discussion, I would say only creativity and imagination will not bring success that last longer. A technical expert will always have better fortune in long run. Companies should look for the creativity for certain level but should also deliver a strong message that credentials and technical expertise in the field are not replaceable. Bottom-line is education remains non-negotiable.
