These days, bicycles are becoming very popular in some countries, while in others, individuals use private vehicles more often. One of the reasons why there is such a contrast among different countries is due to poor urban planning. In my view, this is a positive development because this helps solve some environmental issues, including air pollution.
The main reason why in some republics people prefer cycling, while in others they choose private cars, is because of inadequate urban infrastructure. This is because, in big cities like Bishkek, driving is inconvenient because streets are overcrowded roads are congested and narrow. As a result, individuals use bicycles in order to commute to work or university on time. Moreover, it is useful for their health condition. However, in other smaller countries, there is a lack of public transport, and buses feel suffocating which forces citizens to rely on taxis or automobiles. For example, in Kyrgyzstan, excessive car usage is a huge problem, since there might be three or five buses for every region.
Nevertheless, I firmly believe that it is a positive development because it may reduce risks of environmental degradation such as global warming in some states. Using bikes consistently contributes to better air quality. Firstly, there will be fewer greenhouse gas emissions that cover the atmosphere and increase the planet’s temperature. Secondly, this solution could stop melting ice caps or loss of biodiversity. In such a way, citizens will lead healthy lifestyle while protecting the environment. For instance, Netherlands was included into top three countries with clean nature, since both adults and kids are law-abiding and often use bicycles or simply walk.
In conclusion, while in some areas of the world cycling is replacing automobiles, in others, we can see the opposite picture due to non-effective urban planning. I think it is a sustainable development as thus may solve environmental issues like rising sea levels or contaminated air.
