Band 5+: In some countries , it is illegal for companies to reject job applicants for their age. Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Undoubtedly, majority of nations these days are accepting job applications without considering an individual’s age group and believes that rejecting applicants due to their age group is against the law. This trend may have some positive side, but I strongly believe that the disadvantages overweigh them.

First and the foremost, recruiting employees according to their level of age have numerous benefits to the business operators. An increasing segment of jobs required skilled employees as to operate the business smoothly and effectively. However, underaged individuals, especially teenagers often deprived of such mandated skills. Thereby, hiring an individual with improper experience or skills might negatively affect on the company’s productivity. For instance, highly- skilled jobs such as Electrician or Plumber requires massive advanced skills that can only be obtained after having certain years of experience which teenagers might not have.

Moving further, jobs sometimes can become an education barrier among students. This is because certain sole proprietors hire juveniles because they effortlessly convince to work at low wage incomes as to attain their basic necessities. This results in distractions during the study session because they begin to prioritize more to their work commitments instead of their ongoing studies. This phenomenon can also negatively impact on adult’s future careers. This is because, lack of education limits the job opportunities for them.

To conclude, by implementing new laws of providing employment to any age groups may contribute to the company’s as well as country’s economy. However, limiting employment to those who have significant skills and experience of some sort of years can be more beneficial.
