There is a growing trend of adults choosing to live with their parents despite having finished their studies and entered the workforce. While some people believe this trend brings financial and emotional benefits, others argue that it may also discourage individual from developing independence and responsibility. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.
One major reason why adults continue living with their parents is the rising cost of living. In many countries, renting and purchasing accommodation has become extremely expensive, particularly for young employees beginning of their careers. As a result, staying with their family allows them to reduce financial pressure and save money for future goals such as buying a new car or a new apartment. Another significant reason is that choosing to live with their parents can be stronger family bonds. When one lives with their family, their family can be support and help them to improve their mood and change their mindset, thereby boosting a confidence them to their family members and increasing relationships. In my country, 82% of adults, for instance, live with their parents due to improve their bonds. As a result, a lot of families live happily and harmoniously.
However, living with parents for a long period may negatively affect personal independence. Adults who rely heavily on their families often have fewer opportunities to develop life skills such as managing finance, solving daily problems, and making independent decision. Consequently, they may become overly dependent on parental support even after reaching maturity. This can create difficulties when they eventually need to adapt to independent living in the future. For instance, many university graduates who continue living with their parents tend to depend on family members for cooking, cleaning, and financial management, which may reduce their ability to cope with real-life challenges independently.
I firmly believe that staying with their families is truly essential. Adults need to live with their family, yet parents should ensure a comfortable environment for their children to have ability of problem solving, and managing finance. This can cause adults growing up independently and with their family.
In conclusion, staying with families can be several advantages, however there are some disadvantages. I firmly believe that staying with their families is truly essential.
