From the past few years ,urbanisation has been booming, also owing to everything being available on emi’s to buy private vehicles is not a big in thing in modern era.In some urban towns,governments have tried to decrease vehicle flow;for example,they applied congestion tax during peak hours.I firmly believe,this has a negative impact on the modern society
It is evident that,in current scenario inflation has been on the rise and people are working very hard for their living.Congestion tax will increase their burden as they are already paying high taxes whether it is income tax ,goods and services tax or so on.Data suggested by stanford ,indicates middle class people pay 40 percent of their income in taxes ;for instance apart from income tax they pay tax while shopping,then there is road tax and etc.In contrats congestion tax would mean there would be less private vehicles on road and more public transports leading to less polution which would be eventually better for climate.
Furthermore ,congestion tax would lead to less productivity because there would be more people travelling in public transports ,and it would direct to dealy in reaching their respective places.Information from Stanford indicates that ,on an average ,people travelling in public transports reach their workplaces late than those travelling in their private vehicles.On the other hand,more public transports would mean greater revenue for the goverment which could automatically lead to more economic growth.
Taken everything into account,in todays modern era where inflation has been on the boom and people are already paying hefty taxes ,congestion tax is not the best solution to reduce traffic.
