Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 6+: In some countries there are more young people choosing to enrol in work-based training instead of attending university. Do the advantages of this situation outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, an increasing number of young individuals opting for work-based training over traditional university education has emerged in several countries. This shift brings forth both benefits and drawbacks that must be considered.

To begin with, it can be undeniable that having work experience and softh skills, such as leadership skills and other interpersonal skills, might throw the balance in favour of the applicant when getting a good job. Unlike theoretical university education, work-based training ensures that youngsters are well-prepared for the demands of their chosen professions, Consequently, when there are an overwhelming number of applicants, having relevant experience can put one ahead of the game when applying for a possition. Moreover, it often leads to quicker entry into the job market, enabling them to start thir careers earlier.

On the other hand, there are obvious disadvantages associated with this shift. One notable concern is the perceived lack of those theoretical knowledges that high-education studies traditionally imparts. In other words, while work-based training focuses on practical side of the profession, a well-rounded education usually includes theoretical foundations which can enhance problem-solving abilitie and critical thinking skills. So that, having tertiary education puts people one step ahead of others who do not and this can be the deciding factor in getting some jobs, as well as better laborals conditions.

In conclusion, taking into account all the standpoints mentioned above, it becomes evident that the advatages of work-based training can indeed outweigh the drawbacks in certain scenarios. People should make sure they attain the necessary skills or degrees before applying for a job in order to be sure of success.
