Recently, companies have strived to get children’s attention to buy products like snacks, toys, and fast food. This striving creates severe concerns and fears for parents trying to limit their children’s exposure to these ads. So, should parents worry about this exposure, or should they just accept it as a daily habit in today’s world?
Firstly, it should be known that all entertainment companies these days seek to steal viewers’ attention. Therefore, sites like YouTube or TikTok are competing to have the best marketing platform to let audiences like children want to buy products by watching colorful animated ads aiming to let them need more and more products they may not need or even harmful to their bodies and health. Additionally, many limited-income families can’t buy the expensive original toys their kids want when watching the ads on the TV or anywhere else.
However, this situation is quite the opposite for wealthy families as they don’t have any problem buying anything their kids need, as the hardest binaries would be buying them a lot of fast food they keep watching the ads for, like a Big Mac, for example. I see that there is no control from the government of parents to stop those ads from being seen visually, as they’re not an illegal activity or harmful product. So the best thing they can do is control what their children watching and limit their exposure to that ads as much as possible.
In conclusion, we can’t say that the advertisements are unfair or should be stopped as they are a running business, and we also would do the same marketing if we needed to. Parateng control and digital well-being for children are the parent’s responsibility. No one but the parents should be blamed for misuse of the media.
