Band 8+: In the future, it is difficult for humans to live on Earth. Some people think that more money should be used on research on how people can live on other planets such as Mars. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, many people have started to believe that life on Earth will become more difficult in the future due to problems such as climate change, overpopulation, and the lack of natural resources. Because of this, some argue that governments should invest money in researching other planets, such as Mars, as possible places for humans to live. While I understand why this idea is appealing, I do not fully agree that it should be a priority at the present time.

On the one hand, supporters of space research believe that looking for another planet is a way to protect humanity in the long term. Earth’s resources are limited, and environmental problems are becoming more serious every year. By studying planets like Mars, scientists can develop new technologies and gain knowledge that may one day help humans survive beyond Earth. In addition, space exploration often leads to scientific discoveries that can improve life on our own planet, such as advancements in medicine and engineering.

However, I believe that governments should focus more on solving problems on Earth before spending huge amounts of money on space projects. Millions of people around the world still suffer from poverty, hunger, poor healthcare, and lack of education. Instead of investing billions in space missions that may not benefit humans for many decades, governments should use this money to improve living conditions, protect the environment, and develop sustainable energy sources. If we fail to take care of our own planet, moving to another one will not solve our fundamental problems.

In conclusion, although researching other planets may be useful for the future, I strongly believe that it should not be a priority at the moment. Governments should first focus on making life on Earth safer and more sustainable before looking for a new home in space.
