Earlier, people used to wear clothes according to their culture; however, nowadays, clothing has become similar across the world. In my opinion, I believe that wearing clothes in the past had significant meaning and importance. Presently, clothing has become similar globally because modern-day clothes are lightweight.

First and foremost, wearing clothes according to one’s culture was a major practice in earlier days. Clothing held religious significance, especially in cultural countries like India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. For example, in the past, Muslim individuals had strict clothing restrictions aimed at ensuring the safety of women in society. Additionally, they believed that clothing played a crucial role in protecting women from abusive attacks and terrorist threats. Muslim women, in particular, were required to wear a special face covering called the hijab. Meanwhile, Hinduism did not impose any restrictions on clothing, allowing women to wear sarees and men to wear dhotis according to their preferences, irrespective of restrictions.

Nowadays, clothing is similar worldwide, irrespective of religious differences. This shift can be attributed to the importance of flexibility over cultural factors. For example, traditional Indian attire for both men and women tends to be heavy, whereas Western wear is lightweight and easy to wear. Furthermore, in the present day, various types of clothing are introduced for different occasions, such as sportswear, ethnic wear, formals, casual wear, and more. However, during festivals and religious celebrations, people still prefer to wear clothing in accordance with their cultural traditions.
