Back in time, crucial data of history and culture was kept in the museums. Now, however, the data is easily accessible on the social network, therefore museums are needed no more. Albeit I think that museums are still necessary, there still can be reasons for them to become extinct.
There are various reasons why individuals may think that there is no need for museums in the present day anymore. One of them can be that museums now have lost their initial purpose, serving as not the place for internalizing information about past or culture, but as sort of a recreational activity for spending leisure time. For instance, people now mostly use internet as their source of information, as going to museum every time they need to find something out can be much inconvenient and expensive than a couple of clicks on the screen, therefore, citizens go to museums only on their free time to enjoy viewing at exhibits which are there. Thus, museums are mostly considered to be useless.
Though, in my opinion, these changes do not make museums completely unusable, because it is still great place for young students and children, as seeing everything with their own eyes can make their curiosity even stronger. Moreover, viewing real exhibits makes them understand and memorize the data easier with the help of a guide who is usually provided in museums. These factors for sure prove the need for museums.
To conclude, museums may have transformed and its structure might altered partially, nevertheless there is still use of them, even though mostly in young age group or different purpose.
