Nowadays more and more students opt for studying abroad rather than pursuing degree in their motherland. In this essay, all the pros and cons of such choice will be analyzed to understand what exactly attracts so many youngsters around the world.

On the one hand, attending university in foreign country can have positive effect on student as well as on countries. Scholar can benefit in a number of ways from this experience by becoming more independent and responsible. Besides, receiving education in foreign land is great opportunity to learn a new language, get familiar with other cultures which makes person more broad-minded. As for countries, it can be said that both of them may benefit from such phenomena. For place of study a multitude of foreign students means that it may become a global city which can lead to further economic upsides in the long run. However, student’s native land may take advantage of this situation only under circumstances of their return home by joining labourforce.

On the other hand, studying abroad has various downsides that may intimidate scholars and make countries restrain similar opportunities. Firstly, students may feel alienated and not accepted by locals during their stay because of language barrier and cultural differences. Moreover, many face significant obstacles legally wise due to visa and permits issues. Secondly, more and more countries limit study permits for international scholar due to massive immigration waves. Developing countries do not encourage such trends due to possible loss of qualified workers and population overall.

In conclusion, despite mentioned upsides and downsides of getting education abroad, the pros outweigh cons especially on student’s level. Although it should be remarked that it is a major problem for developing nations to persuade youth to contribute to native economy rather than a foreign one.
