Nowadays, intelligence is a crucial thing to contribute to the success of individuals. There is an opinion that if a person wants to be a leader, intelligence plays a principal role. This essay will explain why I moderately agree with this statement.
IQ stands for intelligence quotient and plays a vital role to create a chairman. A leader with a high IQ can enhance problem-solving and strategic thinking skills at another level that will prove the value of chairman which makes a difference to ordinary employees. Leaders in some complex situations, such as negotiating with an important ally, have to utilize their intelligence to propose and foresee a potential solution for mutual benefit. Intelligence also plays a vital role when leaders analyze market trends to suggest the most optimal way for developing the corporation. With the amount of work leaders do with outstanding intelligence, it is proved that intelligence plays a pivotal role for developing a wise chairman.
On the other hand, being a great leader also requires more qualities than intelligence, such as confidence and leadership. Leadership is the thing that helps leaders direct subordinates to work in unity and more effectively, while confidence can help leaders instill motivation to the employees. In some particular situations like the downfall of the company or a failed project, the confidence and leadership of the chairman can light up and inspire subordinate hopes about a brighter future for them. For all these above, to become a wise and great leader besides intelligence, confidence and leadership are equally important.
In conclusion, while intelligence plays a pivotal role for developing a wise chairman, it is not the only principal factor that determines a great leader. From my perspective, a great leader needs to have many more qualities than just intelligence, such as confidence and leadership.
