Criminals reoffending crime after their release from prisons, has become a burning issue nowadays. There are various reasons for this matter’s occurrence; one of which is poverty, since I believe it is the root cause for nearly every crime. Thusly, in my point of view, criminals being helped in terms of proper job and income, can be a constructive solution.
Initially, it is true that those who have broken a law are observed properly in prisons, yet I believe, further solution is needed. In addition, people return to crime as they suffer from money shortage, and they do not have a livelihood. Therefore, the only way of earning an income they might be familiar with, is to break the law. Moreover, if no useful qualification is taught is prison, nothing would afford their life but committing a crime. Conclusively, governments can take numerous approaches in order to address this issue. For instance, teaching them tailoring while spending their capturing days, can be a way for making a wage in their freedom days. Thus, when ex-criminals have a proper way to afford their daily life, they are less likely to reoffend crime.
In addition to the previous statement above, another reason is inappropriate atmosphere in jails. Unfortunately, prisons provide an inappropriate environment for law breakers to gather together and share ideas. In such case, even those who are more likely to quit offending crimes, would inevitably involve in planning for doing further crime. Consequently, prison atmosphere is not utterly constructive for rehabilitation. To resolve this issue, Government should create a place where individuals are forced to talk about anything but crime. In case of tailoring workshops, when people are busy with learning a skill, they do not tend to think about other subjects.
In conclusion, reasons for people returning to crime are varied and multi approaches can be made. In my perspective, poverty is the key cause and providing an opportunity for having a livelihood addresses the problem successfully.
