In recent year, it has become common for people to believe that elderly individuals could keep working if they still have enough ability. Personally, I partly agree with this assertion, while it may be true in the case of some societies, others seem to be unaffected by their family or their health.
On the one hand, there are some reasons that explain why older people could work if they had good health. In this day and age, elderly people could work without doing heavy things like sharing experience and knowledge with new people in the related fields of that business. For example, in America, numerous companies or industries often invited old employees who were rich to work in order to share knowledge about their jobs with freshmen. In addition, when they retired, they also felt empty and bad-tempered. Therefore, they want to do something in order to kill this time and make their life more valuable. Furthermore, they can meet with some colleagues who have the same taste as them. As a consequence, they consider their life more and more colourful and happy.
On the other hand, I consider with the idea that older people who has retired and do not want to do anything just want to take a break after the long years they have worked. In addition, they have a trend of traveling around the world to enjoy their life or open their eyes. Furthermore, they also spend a considerable amount of time working out and adapting a balanced diet to improve their health or find some people who have the same taste in life, and this time is connected to their relatives and people around their area. For instance, people over 60 years old in Japan also spent time going to the pagoda to freshen their minds or joining some charity organisation. These activities made their life more and more enjoyable and valuable, and made them feel more comfortable and relaxed when they retired
In conclusion, there are good reasons why elderly people want to work despite being older. Personally, I believe that older people should have the freedom to choose whether to work or pursue other activities based on their abilities.
