Band 7+: It is better for people to have a fixed work schedule than to have a flexible one. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is an ongoing debate regarding different types of work schedules among individuals, with opposing views on the matter. While some people argue in favor of a fixed work schedule, others prefer a flexible one. In my view, both stances have their own merits and demerits, but personally, I lean towards a flexible schedule due to my lifestyle.

To begin with, adhering to a fixed work schedule instills discipline in one’s professional and personal life. It also cultivates patience by necessitating adherence to a set plan for tasks. This structured approach promotes methodical task completion. However, this view has limitations. For example, it can be challenging to make last-minute adjustments when necessary. Consider a scenario where a person needs to host a gathering but has not arranged anything in advance, leading to a chaotic situation.

On the contrary, a flexible work schedule offers the versatility to make a wide range of adjustments to one’s timetable. From a psychological standpoint, individuals may find it more preferable to follow their own methods. However, this approach may lead to challenges in prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.

Taking into account my lifestyle and aspirations, I am inclined towards a plan that provides me with the flexibility and autonomy to manage my life. Therefore, I would opt for a flexible schedule, as it offers me a greater sense of freedom in balancing my professional and personal responsibilities.

In conclusion, each individual possesses unique characteristics, and each type of work schedule has its own advantages and disadvantages when it comes to one’s livelihood.
