Band 4+: Living in large cities today poses many problems for people. What are these problems? Should governments encourage more people to live in smaller towns?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Majority are of the opinion that adding to the least of ages who drives cars or motorcycles will improve road safety. This essay will discuss extensively on both points of view and in addition explain why I support the notion.

On the one hand, owing a car or motorbikes in young adults of secondary and tertiary schools will help ease movement because early hours in the morning during work days are usually busy moments for both parents and grow up kids in school. Getting a taxi or bike is not easy as everyone is in a rush to get to work and school early respectively to avoid lateness. In case of parents with spare means of transportation for their offspring will be advantageous because it enables everyone getting to their destinations without interfering in one another’s way. To illustrate, during my salad days, my dad purchased motorbikes for my brother and I to ride to school. This has always been a saving grace for us getting to school early and my dad in return gets to work on time as it has always resulted in his several awards winning as the most putual worker in the establishment where he works. On another hand, to be an automobile driver or rider will help save time for individual during work and school days. People are so enormous at bus-stop in que, waiting for their turn in the public transport as the bus drivers went out to drop other passengers. However, it can be demanding and time consuming for students whose parents have driven to school and children at the mercy of the public transportation.

Secondly, buying youngsters vehicles or bikes as their means of transportation at early age may cause road traffic accidents because, becoming a driver or rider at under age intoxicate them there by making him/her drive carelessly without abiding to the rules and regulations guiding safe driving on high way. If the age is increased, they tend to know the repercussions and charges against disobeying such rules. For instance, few months back my neighbour’s son had a fatal accident a week after his father got him a scarlet mini car. Although, the purpose of that car was to ease movement to school for him. So he took it out with his friends with the aim of celebrating the car. While on high speed, he did not observe the red traffic light which indicates stop but he went on and collided with a passing train. He secured severe injuries and dislocation which left him in the wheelchair till date. In addition, adding to the age of becoming a driver will prevent ultimately death because most adults are very careful and observe traffic light which will improve road safety unlike children who are usually impatient to wait on the traffic control light.

In summary, in as much as acquiring cars or bikes as teenagers help in easing movement to their study centers, it could however lead to road traffic accidents as a result of youthful exuberance exhibited during driving. Adding the age of people who are eligible to drive will help save the awful situation.
