Recently, more and more animal species are on the verge of extinction due to various reasons. While people argue that everyone should prioritize human needs, I believe that conserving endangered species is more significant.
On the one hand, it is understandable why those who believe that authorities should concentrate on society’s needs, as in some countries, especially in developing ones, people are still struggling with suffering from poverty, famine, diseases, and natural catastrophes. For instance, a large share of Africa’s residents are woefully suffering from homelessness, poor living conditions, and epidemics yearly because of food shortages and essential services. If governments prioritize allocating budgets to animal conservation, more citizens may face overwhelming challenges in making ends meet or accessing necessary healthcare.
On the other hand, it is also important to protect the endangered organisms. First of all, animals play a crucial part in maintaining the ecosystem. A typical example is the bees or butterflies pollinating flowers, providing a large amount of honey for agriculture. Without those creatures, it might lead to several catastrophic consequences for the ecological community, such as the disturbance of the food chain or environmental instability. Moreover, a few particular animals that are on the brink of extinction sense potential, upcoming natural disasters, namely earthquakes and tsunamis. By conversing with these organisms, people not only safeguard their existence but also guard themself from severe weather events.
In conclusion, while some believe that addressing human beings’ issues is more essential, I personally think that protecting organisms should be prioritized.
