Band 5+: Many elderly individuals fail to engage in regular exercise. What factors contribute to this issue, and how can we encourage them to exercise more?

It is common observation that elder people are less likely to participate in a physical activity. There can be various reasons behind this problem. In this piece of writing I will delve deeper into what are the root cause. Furthermore, which measures should be taken?

Several factors can be explain why elder pupils avoid physical activity. Firstly, there can be the health related concern, as we all know, many elder citizen are suffering with arthritis and hearth problems. Engaging in physical activity without proper guidance can be dangerous so they choose to avoid it. Secondly, lack of awareness about there are a suitable exercises that are specifically designed for their age group. Thirdly, they may need a partner to support and encourage them while working out, but because of a busy lifestyle of families they seems unable to give them time.

Fortunately, there are several measures to be taken to encourage participation among this age group. Local government should create a community fitness program specifically designed for senior citizen. For instance low impact aerobic and walking club etc. This program will motivate them to participate along with reduce the depression and anxiety which they are dealing with because of being isolated from their families. In addition family member can play a significant role, every family have one member who is fitness freak he must do some adjustment and align its timing with them and give them company. This minute change will bring a huge difference in their elder’s health and overall mood.

In conclusion, health concerns, lack of awareness and family support are the major causes behind poor physical engagement among this age group. However, community based programs and family support can tackle with this concern and promote healthier and more active lifestyle among older generation.
