Language is the main source of communication. It is noticed that due to rapid growth of English language, numerous other languages are vanishing day by day. As far as my opinion is concerned, I believe that this is a destructive development and this essay will explain the reasons behind this in forthcoming sections.
To commence with, there are plethora of factors which lead to this tendency towards negative outcomes. The most intrinsic one is, the loss of nationality. Using a single language world wide leads to the disappearance of native identity. For example, with the help of language, anyone can find out the nationality of people, and that would be vanished if everyone start using a single language to communicate. Apart from it, transparency of secrets will be lost. To explain this, by adapting one common language to share ideas, no one can keep their statements secret from others. To epitome, in the interview panel, if interviewers want to discuss about the interviewees without making them realize what they are discussing and deciding then they can use their native language to keep their talk secret, however if there is only to communicate, they cannot do so. Hence, with the adaptation of single language, not only identity but also transparency will be lost.
Furthermore, use of one language leads to the fade of origin and culture of the particular area. To elaborate, if people start using English language then it is sure that they will definitely start following the English culture in upcoming years, due to that local tradition will not only lose its importance but also lose its appearance day by day. Moreover, when there is no more local culture remains then definitely the history of that area will be vanished soon that leads to the difficulty for the upcoming generations. Foe example, after passing years, if individuals want to get information about the history of their area, then they will face problems to do so, and if they find some old documents that describe the culture and history, even then, they will not be able to read this due to the only knowledge about English language and now they will have no clue regarding their native language. Hence, having single language will take away the culture along with the history of the particular area.
To conclude, no doubt, this approach of having single language world wide has both pros and cons, yet I firmly believe that it will vanish the identity of the nation along with its culture.
