Nowadays, violent films and computer games have become increasingly popular among people of all ages. While some individuals argue that they encourage aggressive behavior and should therefore be banned, others believe that they are simply a form of entertainment and can help people relieve stress. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my opinion.
Examine the former opinion, many people believe that exposure to violent content can have harmful effects on society. Children and teenagers, in particular, may imitate the aggressive actions they see in movies or video games. As a result, they could become less sensitive to violence and more likely to behave aggressively in real life. Furthermore, excessive exposure to violent media may negatively influence social values and contribute to an increase in antisocial behavior. For these reasons, some people support strict regulations or even a complete ban on such content.
On the other hand, others argue that violent films and games are harmless forms of entertainment. Most people can clearly distinguish between fiction and reality and do not become violent after watching a movie or playing a game. In addition, these activities can provide relaxation and enjoyment after a stressful day. Many video games also improve problem-solving skills, teamwork, and hand-eye coordination. Therefore, supporters believe that individuals should have the freedom to choose their preferred form of entertainment without unnecessary restrictions.
In my opinion, violent films and computer games should not be completely banned. Although they may have some negative effects on young people, proper parental guidance and age restrictions can help reduce these risks. Most adults are capable of enjoying such content responsibly without being influenced by it.
In conclusion, violent media may contribute to aggressive behavior in some cases, it also serves as a source of entertainment and relaxation for many people. Therefore, regulation rather than prohibition is the most suitable approach.
