When people idolize a certain figure, they often to imitate what their idol wear, how their idol styles, and what kind of they like to eat. This urge to know ignites drive for media such as newspapers and magazines to dwell more into celebrity’s personal life, up to the point when the said celebrity is having a quality time. I personally believe that this situation needs to be limited to the point where the said celebrity still has a peaceful private life.
Magazines and newspapers are businesses that relies on engaging people’s curiosity to earn money. The more they know what engages their subscribers, the more length they get to have a scoop of information. This can be seen from the paparazzi’s effort to expose Hollywood celebrities’ personal life by hiding in near spot to capture the image of the celebrity’s activity off the screen. Thus, since private information of celebrity’s personal life might be monetized for a quite amount, this habit of secretly gaining information would still be exercised by medias.
On the other hand, this high traffic of exposure often leads medias to the point where they interrupt the celebrity’s personal life and even further, harm their privacy. Furthermore, sometimes this act might even circulate scandals that may ruin the celebrity’s career. Leonardo DiCaprio who is famous from his act in Titanic is often get exposed whenever he changes his date, which leads to their separating ways. From this, it can be comprehended that it is wrong to mind a person’s life too far and without their consent since it might ruin their life, especially if it publicized.
Publicizing a celebrity’s life might gain medias more funds, however their credibility might be endangered if the said celebrity does not give permission to make their private life exposed to public and sue the medias. Therefore, I conclude that it is inappropriate to share much information on a celebrity’s life since it might make the said celebrity’s life unenjoyable.
