It is sometimes said that an efficient learning environment is the one in which students are allowed to question and criticise their teacher. However, some argue that this can result in the lack of discipline and respect and therefore should not be permitted. In my view, it should be allowed to do in a healthy frame.
Opponents claim that constant criticism can distort the respectful relationship between students and teachers. This can have an adverse effect on their overall learning process. Because when a teacher feels offended, their teaching would be adversely affected by this feeling. Therefore, they are more likely to show a poor teaching performance, and this can bring about major learning problem for students. Although I support this view to some extent, I believe that we can teach students how to have respectful manner and be good at critical thinking at the same time.
undoubtedly, developing critical skills can be highly beneficial to students, especially when it is taught and practiced in an educational system. Critical knowledge and the ability to question different ideas can enhance the overall efficiency of an educational system. Furthermore, this would help them to stay curious throughout their lives and become proficient at making logical arguments while debating. In addition, it has been proven that people who have been taught and allowed to experience these skills at schools are more likely to have better problem-solving skills which can lead to experience healthier relationships. Nonetheless, teaching students about the rules of a respectful criticism is vital.
In conclusion, I agree with those who believe that we should encourage students to act as a critical thinker in class, nevertheless, they should be taught about its rules.
