The New Year is a family holiday that has been celebrated for centuries and brings together a number of traditions, customs, and decorations. Nowadays, there is a critical question of how this day has been altered and whether we should keep our legacy further or restate our positions due to the over-commercialized gala. I personally believe that this particular winter celebration is essential for the majority of families, and we should promote this culture to our inheritance.
There are not numerous holidays that could bring a whole clan back together for one day, but the New Year does. It is clear evidence that it has been an integral part of people’s lives. Every culture, nation, or government has its own winter celebration with its own traditions that have been passed down through the years. For example, in my family, there are tree toys that were created and decorated 50 years ago, and we still decorate our tree with them. It is essential to save these local customs to be unique and preserve our belonging to a family. On the other hand, besides the benefit described below, there is a clear con that in recent times, it has become highly commercialized. At this time of the year, at the end of December, the streets of cities are full of markets and shops for customers. The profit is enormous in these days, which encourages more and more traders to sell Christmas goods. Furthermore, this could lead to people’s disinterest, and a number of people will feel that this holiday is “artificial.”
To sum up, while there are some obvious drawbacks to celebrating New Year, this celebration has become integral, and the value outweighs any negatives. We should continue to celebrate this holiday and preserve our traditions while being mindful of the commercialization that has taken place.
