The New Year is a family holiday that has been celebrated for centuries and brings together a lot of traditions, customs, and decorations. Nowadays, there is an important question of how this day altered and whether should we keep our legacy further or we need to restate the positions due to over commercialized gala. I personally believe that this particular winter celebration is the essential for majority of families and we should promote this culture to our inheritance.
There are not many holidays that could bring a whole clan back together for one day, but the New Year is. It is clear evidence, that has been an integral part of people’s life. Every culture, nation, or government has its own winter celebration with its own traditions, that have been brought through the years. As an example, in my family, there are tree toys that have created and decorated 50 years ago and we still decorate our tree within. It is important to save these local customs to be unique and save our belonging to a family.
On the other hand, besides the benefit described below, there is a clear con is that in recent times it has commercialized a lot. At this time of the year, at the end of December streets of the cities are full of markets, and shops for customers. The profit is enormous in these days, which encourages more and more traders to sell Christmas goods. Furthermore, this could lead to people’s disinterest, some will feel this holiday is “artificial”.
To sum up, while there is some obvious drawback to celebrating New Year, this celebration has become integral and the value outweighs any negatives.
