There is a growing trend were escalating consumption patterns, yielding certain advantages such as undeniable fuel to economic development of businesses. However, I firmly believe that the drawbacks – notably excessive waste and conspicuous consumption – are far more profound and ultimately outweigh its any perceived benefits.
Perhaps the most significant benefit of thriving consumer culture is that it is powerful engine for economic growth. When people”s needs increase rapidly, the services and goods they purchasing stimulate investment and job creation throughout various industries, thereby maintaining sustainable employment opportunities and economic stability. As a result, growing job availability maintains financial stability and also life standards of locals. Although in that cases, consumerism is a driving force behind finance and profit margin of most companies all over the world, its overall significance remains relatively minor compared to its broader adverse impacts.
Despite these merits, I strongly presume that materialistic values and consumption habits can bring more detrimental consequences, a common one of which is massive waste production. With escalating temptation for purchasing food, services and technology to mostly sustain their status by faulting wealth among norm-driving society. With feeling of pressure to keeping up with contentious changing trends may catalyst for non-biodegradable waste of old-fashioned goods, technological devices in particular. As a perfect example in point would be “iPhone” one of the most successful luxury brand which has already become social symbol. Despite the cost of newly updated models of products, especially phones it manufactures placed in the top ranks of any conditioned people which reflects their reputation in their social class. They try to utilize such valuable devise in pursuit of gaining respectful treat from surrounded community, even though they lack of sufficient financial support. The implications are not only confined to financial struggles but also social inequality, overconsumption and environmental degradation ultimately. From this regard, I do believe that advertising poses more adverse ramifications, particularly in terms of nature-related problems and financial sustainability.
In conclusion, although consumerism plays an important role in economic development, I strongly contend that the far-reaching consequences driven by keeping pace with changing trends damage to nature due to rapid accumulation of waste it generates decisively confirm the drawback outweigh the benefits.
