There is a debate over where it is healthier to live, with some saying that rural areas can offer better health conditions and others claiming that urban areas are the optimal choice in this regard. Although by living in cities people can gain a number of health benefits, I side with those who claim that still countryside is a much better option.
Living in urban settings can come with numerous health advantages and chief among them is the access to improved health care services. In other words, compared to countryside healthcare facilities, in cities there are a lot of healthcare centers where one can get high quality medical assistance 24/7. The factors which make this opportunity unique are twofold: firstly, these hospitals and clinics based in cities are equipped with modern technologies such as MRI or X-rays which place an important role in the identification and treatment of severe ailments. Secondly, job professionals in the medical field are also employed in city healthcare centers which again ensures a high quality of medical help. Additionally, an abundance of fitness centres and sports facilities contribute profoundly to the enhancement of the city population’s overall well-being as well. Every corner of a city is filled with those facilities, which makes the process of keeping fit enjoyable.
Despite these outstanding health advantages, for me still the countryside remains as an ideal place to be in a good shape. Most importantly, rural areas can boast of improved air quality. It is mainly because the main drivers of air pollution namely cars and factories are not in great quantities, if not completely non-existent. Also, a lush greenery helps the countryside to freshen the air, thereby making it more pleasant to breathe. Organic food is another reason why I support the rural area in this case. Even though agriculture of rural areas is viewed as primitive and inefficient, the rural food is much healthier as opposed to urban food which contains a large amount of artificial additives and chemical substances. Consuming these substances on a daily basis can result in several health problems such as obesity and heart diseases.
To sum up, the presence of fitness centres and high quality treatment centers ensure the population receives good quality of medical help, which is undeniably key for a healthy lifestyle. However, due to organic food and low levels of air pollution, I believe that rural residents are much healthier than city dwellers.
