Nowadays, some people have differing views regarding the negative influences of social media platforms (such as TikTok and Instagram) on individuals. However, I mostly disagree with this opinion. From my perspective, people benefit from social platforms more for their essential aspects.
It is true that some people suffer from the new generation’s reliance on phones and social networking sites. They constantly share posts on social media accounts. Although it may seem like an enjoyable activity, scammers can easily trap their victims. For instance, scammers often send malicious links through messages. Once people click these links, their devices might be compromised, copying sensitive data. For example, a scammer might threaten individuals with their private photos or confidential information, forcing them to send money or fulfill other demands.
On the other hand, social media platforms also have significant benefits for society. Through social media, people can expand their network relationships using platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram. These platforms enable professionals to share experiences, opinions, or personal updates. For instance, workers can meet new people, leading to invitations to conferences or meetings. Such interactions foster brainstorming activities that bring people closer together.
Additionally, social platforms help individuals seek new job opportunities for professional or personal growth. People can develop their careers or refine their ideas by engaging in job interviews and networking. In some cases, individuals attend virtual job interviews for positions abroad, which can lead to exciting opportunities in new environments and workplaces.
To sum up, I believe the impact of social platforms depends on how people use them. While social networking sites can provide essential information and support social activities, their use should not be excessive. People should set boundaries and use these platforms responsibly. Considering these points, I conclude that social media does not inherently affect people negatively.
