There is ongoing debate regarding tourism, as it has become one of the most significant global industries for nations. Nevertheless, others argue that it leads to serious issues for the environment and local communities. Therefore, my opinion is that it brings many advantages by encouraging international understanding and peace.
Examining the former opinion, the primary argument the supporters would put forward is that it can contribute to increasing the industry of countries through traveling. This is because we have to save culture and historical heritages. For instance, when tourists come to a country, they use transportation, hospitals, and hotels, which help to grow the industry and economy. In addition, tourism is also beneficial for local people by creating millions of jobs in hospitality and transport. For example, the increase in people in a country demands transport and hospitals; that is why it is useful.
On the contrary, those in favour of the latter opinion have their own arguments. To begin with, they claim that many issues are caused by tourism for local communities and the environment because it contributes to pollution and the overconsumption of natural resources. For instance, when they come to a nation, they mainly use cars and buses, which produce carbon dioxide and consume more natural resources than other types of transport. All of these things can cause environmental degradation. Moreover, I believe that it can bring benefits by inspiring international understanding and peace because people can communicate with others and make strong relationships that help them support each other even if they live in another country. For example, I have many international friends, and I know their cultures very well. That is why tourism is important.
To conclude and offer my position, there are convincing arguments both for and against tourism providing a beneficial industry for nations, but there is also an opposite opinion that it can cause environmental degradation for local communities. In my opinion, it consists of many advantages by inspiring international understanding and peace.
