In this modern world where a second language has become a necessity to everyone, many people are pressured to master a new language other than their native language, which in turn, some people opt for learning the language in the countries where the language is spoken. In my opinion, this is the best way to learn a new language despite the drawbacks.
From a broad perspective, many people prefer to learn new language from their hometown. Firstly, the economic reason is one of the biggest influences on why some people choose to learn second language from their hometown. Studying abroad requires a huge amount of financial support and not everyone can afford it, especially for those who are in the middle to low income class, it is definitely not a choice. The second reason is some people prefer to stay in their comfort zone. Studying abroad might seem like a big commitment and individuals who study overseas need to adjust to the new culture, which can interfere with the learning process and is not suitable for everyone.
Despite the drawbacks, learning new language in the place where it is spoken offers enormous benefits for the learners. To begin with, studying overseas, allowing students to have first-hand experience using the language in their daily lives. This exposure can help individuals to enhance their speaking ability rapidly as they have to consistently apply it in real life. For example, my close friend who learn Korean language find her language improve significantly ever since she moved to korea because she is able to use the language everyday and speak with native korean. Moreover, the teachers in foreign countries are native speakers, thus they have a better understanding of the language and advanced curriculum that provide the opportunity for the pupils to acquire as many knowledge as they could.
All in all, learning a new language abroad allows individuals to enhance their ability rapidly and gives the exposure to the language in daily lives. Hence, I believe if someone wants to master other languages, studying at the countries where the language is spoken would give more advantages than disadvantages.
