There are multiple factors explaining why many citizens prefers driving private cars. For one thing, long commutes avoid green transport, such as bicycles & buses in favor of driving automobiles & motorcycles because they are faster & more convenient, which provides greater flexibility & mobility so that drivers & passengers can not only save time but effort. In India, driving is still the major means of communing especially urban areas, simply because the country is too large to go anywhere by walking or cycling. For another, many areas lack of basic infrastructure, which makes commuters impossible reach long distance destination without motor vehicles. For instance, goods & residents are mainly transports by motor vehicles in many Africans countries. Due to the shortage of railways, subway, airports etc.
In order to tackle this issue of dependent on cars & motorbikes, both authorities & individuals should take active. Firstly, government invest more in building public transport to meet inhabitant’s needs. If people are able to travel by railway, metro & and bus which are more cost effective most of them would change the way they go somewhere. Furthermore, administrations could improve heavy taxes on those means of travelling that are not environmentally friendly, which would discourage number of citizens from driving cars or riding motorbikes. Lastly, everyone should raise their awareness on their own initiative in protecting the environment, thus travelling in a green manner, such as cycling, walking and taking public transport. In conclusion, convenience & the unique alternative are major contributors to the reliance in automobiles & motorbikes. To reverse the trend, both government & individuals should adopt measure.
