There is a growing trend where a majority of students face obstacles in maintaining focus on their education. While this can be largely attributed to pervasive influence of social media, I believe that the problem can be effectively addressed if parents limit their children’s screen time.
One compelling reason for poor concentration can be habitual dependence on smartphones. With students consistently scrolling their mobile device, even during study sessions, this behavior eventually leads to an imbalance between academic responsibilities and personal life. The implications are not confined to impaired focus, but also extend to poor academic performances, ultimately being under academic pressure. Therefore, unlimited screen time can be one the most driving forces behind why lack of attention.
To combat the growing issue of a lack of concentration effectively, it is imperative for parents to take a decisive action by regulating their children’s access to device technology. Given that excessive smartphone usage can negatively affect students’ concentration, supervising screen time by parents will counteract this situation by improving control over their children’s mobile usage and encouraging them to study effectively. For example, Italy and Brazil ban the use of digital devices for young students, only enabling them to be used for academic purposes. Thus, implementing these measures will tackle the root causes of overexposure to screens. In conclusion, screen overuse are regarded as the driving forces for diminished focus. However, enhancing oversight over mobile habits can successfully resolve the ever-growing issue.
