Band 5+: Meat production requires relatively more land than crop production. Some people think that as land is becoming scarce, the world's meat consumption should be reduced. What measures could be taken to reduce the world's meat consumption? What kinds of problem might such measures cause?

A huge amount of land is needed for animal farming than growing crops. Some argues that land is now limited resource due to rapidly growing population and eating meat should be brought down globally. Educating young children and increasing tax in order to lessen consuming of meat. The main problem such as costing Government’s budget can be cause while carrying out this measures.

Giving lessons about having less meat in school could decrease the amount of meat consumption as a long term solution.

That is to say that children are more likely to talk about what they learned in school and parents could be influenced by this. Another way to tackle this is to impose tax on selling meats. In this way, people are going to think twice before purchasing one. For example, In Malaysia, pork is high in price in order to decrease consumption, Government increases tax effectively on producing and selling.

More financial support is needed to carry out adding extra course about consuming meat wisely in school. This is because training teachers and legislation new laws is time consuming and costly. Governments are more likely to be dealing with some other serious issues and having to support another extra money can be a financial burden on State. For instance, 90% of states are struggling just to survive and they have no extra to tackle problem that are yet to come.

In conclusion, animal raising is taking up more land compare to cropping and this need to be lessen because a peice of land is becoming priceless. Although schooling students about to reduce consuming and rising tax on retailing meat and poultry is a good way to address this, a financial strain on State’s budget can be occurred.
