In a fast-changing world, the rote-learning approach is popular in the education system. The profound advantages of memorization, such as time efficiency, foundation of basic information, and better results, far outweigh potential setbacks, such as short-term retention, lack of cognitive thinking, and lack of in-depth understanding.
To begin with, the repeating learning method has distinct advantages for students. For example, this approach is time efficient for young adults, as they study diverse subjects at university, acquiring more knowledge by memorizing and performing better in classes. Furthermore, rote learning aids in retaining basic information in mind, since various subjects are arduous for young individuals, such as math, English, and theoretical subjects. When students want to learn English, they need to obtain vocabulary and grammatical structures. Thus, they repeatedly memorize that information, which enables them to expand knowledge.
On the other hand, the memorization learning method has many adverse effects on students, such as a short time of knowledge. As students concentrate exclusively on the vital lines, without comprehending the logical flow of the lessons, they fail to expand creativity. Therefore, talented young individuals experience cognitive fatigue, as they are no longer practicing practical resources in libraries and laboratories. For example, in physics and chemistry subjects, students just learn theoretical knowledge to pass exams instead of researching practical experiments.
