Today, more and more people are buying a wide range of household goods, such as televisions, microwave ovens, and phones. In my opinion, this is a predominantly positive development, since these goods improve daily comfort, although it can also lead to a wrong mindset.
Household goods provide a practical solution for improving people’s daily routine. Items such as televisions, phones, and laptops are mostly used for entertainment, and a laptop or phone alone can already replace many other devices. However, the main reason people still choose separate goods is comfort: microwave ovens and rice cookers exist because they simplify specific everyday tasks that a phone cannot replace. As people’s living standards rise, they naturally want to improve their quality of life, and buying a wider range of household goods is a direct way to do this.
Nevertheless, this trend also has a negative side: it can create a consumption-mindset. As people start living better than before, they also start buying more items than they actually need. Many people buy things without really thinking whether those things are necessary. This creates a mindset where people simply want to keep consuming. For example, after every purchase, some people immediately want to buy something new. This behaviour is a sign of a consumption-mindset, and it can lead to heavy personal debt and constant stress.
In conclusion, the fact that more and more people are buying a wide range of household goods is mostly a positive development, since it improves comfort and daily life. However, it also has a disadvantage: it can encourage a consumption-mindset that leads to financial and emotional stress.
