There is an increase in the number of workers who work remotely at their homes in some regions of the world. Personally, although such people will suffer from some drawbacks, I contend that it will be a advantageous trend.
On the one hand, not only does working from home cause harmful diseases to people’s well-being, but also it leads to the lack of social skills. This is because sitting for a long time prevents workers from walking, biking or going up the stairs, resulting in their body being affected. As a result, the more amount of time they spend for sitting, the more likely they suffer from obesity. Moreover, if employees overuse technological devices such as smartphones or computers without communication with their colleagues, they do not have more opportunities to boost their social skills such as communication and problem-solving.
On the other hand, there are two main benefits when working at home is encouraged. Firstly, thanks to this development, workers can be able to save reduce expenses. To be specific, they do not need to drive their cars or buy tickets to use public buses, leading to saving a huge amount of money. One of the best benefits from working remotely is that it helps to protect our environment, especially urban areas. To illustrate, due to COVID-19 pandemic, which makes millions of workers complete their tasks at home, the Vietnamese government showed that the amount of emissions in Ha Noi city decreased by around 40% from 2020 to 2022.
In conclusion, while working from accommodation affects employees’ physical health and social skills, it brings them two primary advantages, consisting of reducing expenses and environmental improvement. Therefore, I contend that this is a positive development.
