In this day and age, youngsters increasingly tend to utilize dating applications with a view to finding a partner. While this phenomenon brings several benefits, I am wholeheartedly of the opinion that this trend does more harm than good.
On the one hand, this trend brings several merits to young people. Firstly, the young can effortlessly enlarge their partner options via online platforms. By using numerous applications such as Tinder, Bubble, Twitter, etc, people are able to connect to others from every corner of the world regardless of distance, ages, social backgrounds. Secondly, it offers young people an opportunity to choose the best companion. Users provide their personal information to dating platforms; thus, youngsters stand a chance of taking those into careful consideration to find who has the compatible qualities with them.
On the other hand, I still believe that this tendency has more adverse effects than positive points. Firstly, teenagers are likely to encounter fraudsters. The photographs on a dating app may not reflect the real appearance of individuals. People can utilize beauty apps to perfect their images before posting pictures online, which eventually leads to disillusion. Secondly, users of dating websites are subject to information leakage. Scammers can make use of the available personal data and sell them on other platforms, which is dangerous because youngsters can not control the spread of their information. Finally, it is undoubtedly harmful for their health. Gazing at the phone for a long time causes buried-mind, shorted-eyesight, etc. The light coming from the electric devices pose a risk for mental disorders.
In conclusion, although using dating websites brings more options and convenience for young people, its drawbacks still outweigh the benefits when users are suffering from the fraudsters, information leakage and health problems. It is essential for teenagers to take advantage of it in an appropriate way.
