Many artists earn low salaries for their work. In recent decades, there has been significant controversy between those who believe the government should provide funding for them and those who do not. In my opinion, I think they should be funded by the state.
First of all, by funding artists, the country could increase its tourism. It is well known that art attracts the interest of foreigners. For instance, Rome is famous for its renowned painters and sculptors who have left a great legacy to humanity. Every year, a large number of people visit the historic part of the city, contributing to both the national and local economy. If our politicians decide to invest in artists, there would be better works of art, and the country would become an attractive destination for art lovers.
On the other hand, this measure would increase national income and even benefit those who work in other industries. For example, the arrival of international visitors stimulates the market and businesses around museums or art galleries. In this way, not only are artists benefited, but also the local market, including stores, restaurants, and private service companies.
Finally, I believe that improving artists’s quality of life presents a positive image of the government abroad. Additionally, other artists might be encouraged to visit our country. Furthermore, the nation could become a global art center, increasing international interest.
