In today’s world, it is widely observed that many employees have the tendency to change their workplaces regularly, where in the 60’s and 70’s, people remained in one workplace their entire lifespan. This essay will cover the reasons behind this issue and suggest two ways companies can retain their employees.
One of the primary reasons why people frequently change their jobs, is to seek better opportunities for themselves. People in this generation have this common idea of missing out on life and experiences, and don’t want to limit themselves with staying at one place, seeing the same people everyday and working on the same topics. Another contributing factor can be their lack of motiviation. Companies gravitate towards making their employees work too hard or sometimes even causing overwork. This will naturally lead to lose a persons lack of interest and drain their energy, leaving no motivation behind.
Beyond these points, companies need to work on improving to keep their employees from leaving. Given this statement, there are two main ponts on which companies need to improve in order for them to refrain their employees from leaving. One of them being, the work environment. It is crucial for people to work in comfortable environments in order for them to decompress their stress and work comfortably. Another key point is that the company should make it accessible for their employees to reach out to them in case they have any issues or make them feel taken care of.
Lastly, as mentioned above, one of the most crucial improvements a company should make, is to reward their employees with trips around the world. It is widely known in some countries around Europe that companies give out free trips to their employees, to show them gratitude as a reult of hard work and dedicaton. With this generation being more open to experiences and wanting to see the world, this would be a huge selling point for them and would make them stay for future trips.
In conclusion, work is all about experience for this generation. What seperates this century apart from the previous one is the urge to gain opportunities instead of being stable, which the older generation is known for. The youth of today cling on to something that gives them life. Companies should really look into who their employees are, what they want, and give them something to hold onto.
