Band 5+: Nowadays more and more people are using smartphones and computers to communicate, so they are losing the ability to communicate with each other face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the dynamic landscape of contemporary discourse, people are surrounded by all sorts of electronic devices ranging from computers to mobile phones; thereby, the issue of face-to-face interpersonal communication has garnered significant attention. I strongly oppose the notion that individuals are losing their communicative skills in the flesh due to digital devices.

Admittedly, some youngsters are addicted to the virtual world brought by computer science, leading to the degradation of their real-world communicative skills. For one thing, mobile phones or computers can provide instant access to information and messages, and are available 24/7, making it convenient and flexible for folks. For example, people can quickly get friend’s latest news from updates on social media via their smartphones, instead of asking them in person. For another, multimedia content online also offers interaction with community through comment boxes. Users can type their ideas using smartphones and computers, and then get feedbacks from other. Therefore, a few fanatics for electronic devices gradually prefer to share their opinions online rather than talk with real-world friends, which is detrimental to their face-to-face communicative skills.

However, my unwavering belief stems from feasible myriad ways that still contribute to practicing and developing eye-to-eye interpersonal communication. First and foremost, family plays a vital role in cultivating individual’s communicative skills. Since family members are normally trustworthy and realiable, who are somebody that people confide in. Consequently, daily interaction at home can ensure people basic language ability and sentimental experssion, which is crucial in direct communication. Moreover, school and workplace are instrumental in offering ample opportunities for social interaction to advance people’s communicative capability. To begin with, there are numerous academic studies have demonstrate that students, who actively participated in group activities and clubs at school, excel in confict resolution, which is essential for physical communication. Subsequently, big project in office serves as a catalyst for improving socialized communicative skills. Each individual office has to work seamlessly and cooperate together to complete the task, where polite language and direct communication are nessitated to promote the outcome smoothly.

To recapitulate, digital device do not have remification that contemporary people will regress their face-to-face communicative skills. Despite potential addict, most people can ehance their holisitc communicative skills through family, school, and workplace in daily life.
