In this day and age, consumers are less affected by advertising than they were in the past. This essay will elucidates the reasons behind this phenomenon and argue that it is ultimately a positive development.
There are many reasons to this developments, two of which are the availability of media platforms that allow people to independently search for products and services and distrust of traditional advertising. The first factor behind it refers to the rise of media platforms has helped people learn about the products through influencers and reviews from experts online. By watching content created by influencers on social media platforms, trust is built and has a strong impact on consumers’s opinions. As a result, customers have a tendency to believe in those people over traditional advertisements, as it makes them feel more relatable and trustworthy.
In my opinion, advertising has less of an impact on buyers is a positive development for several reasons related to higher demand for authenticity in advertisements as well as empowered consumers. Chief among these is that brands have to be more transparent with the information about their products, which is introduced in the advertisements given to customers. The worst consequence to be considered is that some companies have low product quality, which is totally different from the good ones they showed in the advertisements, making consumers distrust buying their products and services a second time. As a result, consumers would definitely rely on influencers and online feedback for their spending rather than depending on traditional advertisements, as it is impossible for them to predict whether the ones they received are worth the money.
In conclusion, I believe that the tendency of consumers who are making decisions to buy products by rely on feedback and reviews online from celebrities and experts rather than putting their trust on advertising from companies is a good development.
