In recent years, online education has become increasingly popular, and many students now prefer it to traditional classroom education. Although studying online brings several benefits, it also has certain drawbacks. In my opinion, the disadvantages of online learning outweigh the advantages due to lack of face-to-face communication with people.
One of the major advantages of online learning is that it provides convenience and accessibility. When students study online, they are able to learn from any location, which is comfortable for everyone. For example, in my home country, Uzbekistan, in some regions, particularly in the countryside, there are not sufficient education centres for students. The government has provided accessibility to online study for them, which creates more opportunities for all students in nations. Therefore, some students can study effectively and independently.
Nevertheless, online learning also includes several drawbacks, especially in terms of interpersonal skills. Due to online education, it can cause weaknesses in youngsters’ communication abilities, as they do not often talk, speak or argue with others. For instance, in traditional classrooms students usually face various debates, challenges or conflicts with other students, such difficulties can develop their interpersonal and problem-solving skills. As a result, students not only study effectively at traditional schools, but also they can develop social and self-confidence.
In conclusion, despite some benefits of online learning, like accessibility from any destination, online education offers significant benefits, such as broadening students’ worldview and self-confidence in any difficult situation. Therefore, the disadvantages of online study outweigh its advantages.
