An increasing population is one of the most dangerous threats to our nature. I completely agree with this statement. Firstly, i will discuss how overpopulation affects environment directly, and secondly, the link between the number of people and pollution.
In today’s world, the population is on the rise which creates a dilemma in terms of availabilty of living spaces. In order to expand the cities, government is usually inclined to destroy the nature. Moreover, to keep up with the increasing demand for daily goods, large companies use faster and unsustainable ways of production. Cutting down forests, pumping sacred natural resources, dumping production junk in the rivers are only a small number of serious enviromental problems that our growing population brings.
For example, The University of Kolkata reported that more than 1 million hectares of forest was cut down to keep up with the population growth in India.
Secondly, the increasing number of individuals cause enormous amounts of pollution. Factories and personal vehicles are amongst the main contributors to air poisoning. The rise in population causes the automobile industry to produce more cars. Consequently, if people purchase more vehicles, the quality of air will worsen. Additionally, governments that do not impose strict recycling laws are putting themselves at great risk. The lack of appropriate waste-recycling equipment leads companies to dump their trash into the environment. For example, Pakistan’s Ministry of Health stated that the amount of clean water dropped to 10% due to the high population.
In conclusion, i completely agree with the fact that overpopulation is one of the main dangers to our environment with regards to overuse of the resources and pollution.
