Some sociologists claim that parents and other members of society often set a bad example. Discuss the causes and some effects of widespread drug use by young people in modern day society. Make any recommendations you feel are necessary to help fight youth drug abuse. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

At the present time, the younger generation increasingly consumes legal as well as illegal drugs during their early years. A few sociologists state that, the reason behind this is the behaviour of the elders, who act as a wrong influence on children. Is there any way out of it? In this essay , I will discuss the causes and the impact on young children due to drug usage along with some suggestions.

The root cause for this issue has to be the peer pressure a child recieves from his close friends. In other words, it’s natural for a human to follow the footsteps of someone close to them, especially the young kids, who cannot diferentiate between right and wrong. If one of the aquintanance is into such harmful substances, which he may have inherited from his close ones, it ultimately influences the other one. Thus, the word passes around and becomes a trend. One of the way out to thisi, s parents must be aware of the friend’s background as well as their habits ensruing that they are the right people to mix with.

Sometimes, children devlop these drug habits because of the action of their own parents. If an individual observes his folks taking dangerous substances in their body during his childhood, it is bound to happen that he develops this habit in future too. This is mainly because, we often look up to our elder ones when we are growing up. Eventually, this has an adverse impact on the youth as they haven’t been brought up well. However, one of the solutions to this life threatening problem is drug abuse awareness seminars, specially conducted for the elder ones. It is essential to educate them regarding the impact of their doings on young age groups, so that it can come to an end before it’s too late.

As far as my opinion is considered, the main reason may be the close people’s influence on teenagers which actively holds power. Nevertheless, drug awareness program as well as right choice of friends can contribute a way out to these issues.
