Nowadays, residing in major cities causes several difficulties for people. This trend is primarily driven by the variety of pollution and traffic congestion due to the increased population. However, authorities persuading people to settle in the countryside may not be the viable solution, as I believe that there are effective measures that can be taken to address this issue.
One significant problem of this phenomenon is the pollution of air and water at an alarming rate, as the number of inhabitants increases rapidly. Having overcrowding in many parts of the city results in the air current to be polluted by carbon dioxide, and some harmful gases produced by individuals powering machines like vehicles. Not only this, but they also contaminate the fresh water by disposing of kitchen and personal waste in the rivers, as the designated landfill is filled over the edge. Additionally, increasing numbers of cars on the road trigger traffic jams, causing delays in reaching a certain destination on time. These are the obstacles that are prevalent for residents in urban areas.
To counteract these challenges, the government should expand the area of cities, along with implementing more public transit. Enlarging the size of a city means creating suburbs with essential facilities such as nearby clinics, supermarkets, and small local businesses. By carrying out this plan, the overly populated area in the city will be reduced, solving one of the existing issues. Nevertheless, installing more public transportation, such as buses and trains, will be a substitute for the majority of vehicles on the street. Subsequently, improving the current routes available for public transit will address the poor situation more efficiently.
In summary, although various pollutions and busy traffic are threatening the city’s residents, measures that could be undertaken by the government would effectively resolve the pervasive difficulties within the urbanized area.
