Band 4+: Plastic Free Future! Big part of plastic produced globally is for packaging. A very small part of plastic is recycled. By 2050, according to 5 Gyres Organisation, there will be more plastic than fish in the sea if figures continue to rise. In 2014, we were consuming 311 million tonnes of plastic – a number which is set to double in the next 20 years. The 2017 United Nations Clean Seas Campaign estimates that there were 51 trillion tiny pieces of microplastic in the ocean today – 500 times more than the number of stars in our galaxy!

In the modern word we use and consumption a lot of plastics but a huge part of it is produced for packaging : for istance make up products or skin care products or even containers not to mention the usage of plastic bottles. Over recent years we are starting to do waste storting but just a small part of plastic is recycled in the correct way (9%) and the other is burned.

However, all this synthetic who is reprocess an uncorrect way is easily dispersed in the air and pollute lakes, oceans, seas and rivers this cause the disease of fish and the the obstruction of aquatic ecosystems as a matter of fact according to 5 Gyres Organisation there will be more plastic than fish by 2050. Moreover, looking back at 2014 the utilization of this material rose 311 million tonnes unfortunaly double number expected in the next 20 years.

Nevertheless, before the word Covid-19 become the most feared word in the globe a couple of years ago there was microplastics in frist position. It was an enourmus problem and still is because now they are in our food and they have a deleterious and permanent effects on our body, indeed. they can damage the walls, trigger allergic reactions, and even kill them. In 2017 United Nations Cleans Seas Campaing approximated that there were 51 trillion fragments of microplatics in the oceans today five hundred more than the stars in our solar system.
