There is a view that schools use entertainment methods for learning instead of traditional books. While this approach teach students how quickly search information, they are better off without such approach as they lead to poorer academic performances especially reading skills and social isolation.
Movies, computers and games can promote better participation. While standard lectures introverted or shy students stay silent during the lesson, these type of digital boards or plays give low pressure to share their thoughts without the stress of raising their hand in front of a whole class.
In my opinion, however, people should eliminate this approach. The main concern over these entertainment ways is that they become a major academic burden for students. Games, films and computers use simpler words, but in books there are plenty of academic advanced vocabularies. While fun videos and games allow student to watch and enjoy, books teach them how to focus deeply, read patiently and enhance their interest in learning.
Another argument in favour of the screen based methods is that they usually make students to feel socially isolated. When students focus on educational games, software or videos, their attention completely locked in device. Instead of talking, debating or find solution to some problems with classmates, they sit silently in one place and reducing normal social communication. Many apps focus only on their own scores and progress that discourage students to help their peers to explain things they do not understand.
In conclusion, despite the benefits of screen based educational techniques, these strategies are not necessary as they can lead to poorer academic performance and isolation.
